The life of a designer is often one of inspiration—from the past to the present.
The shortlist of famous designers only speaks to the fact that this is a special art.

Featured Artist: Fabien Baron

Fabien Baron
Few magazine art directors are famous enough to be recognized by name, but that is not the case with Fabien Baron. Beginning in the 9os as Creative Director for Harper’s Bazaar, his homage to the font, Didot and, Alexey Brodovitch, who was the art director for twenty four years, he fashioned a new editorial approach that became widely imitated. A luxurious use of white space and type bordering on 700 points, his layouts honored the photographer (he worked with the best) and brought fashion layouts a sense of typographical glory not seen before.
Mr Baron is also an art director who had sense enough to move into the editor-in-chief chair as he did for numerous publications but primarly Interview magazine.
Moving away from print he art directed many music videos, and commercials for Calvin Klein, Armani, Givenchy and Fendi.
